The series also brings together a stellar cast of the Who’s Who including Annie Lennox, Halle Bailey, Julia Roberts, Idris Elba, Alia Bhatt, Serena Williams, John Legend, and Gucci CHIME co-founder Salma Hayek Pinault, as well as the esteemed two-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. As the campaign ushers in a new decade of support, the videos serve as a platform for artists, activists, organizers, and advocates to express their perspectives on equality.
A Decade of Impact:
In 2013, Gucci, together with co-founders Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Salma Hayek Pinault, launched the Gucci CHIME campaign, aiming to advance gender equality globally. The inaugural event, THE SOUND OF CHANGE: LIVE, held at Twickenham Stadium in London, raised $3.9 million and reached a staggering 1 billion viewers. Over the past ten years, Gucci CHIME has raised $21.5 million, impacting the lives of 635,000 girls and women through 500 projects across 92 countries in partnership with 185 non-profit organizations.
The Empowering Video Series:
To honour a decade of impact, Gucci has enlisted Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy to direct a thought-provoking video series consisting of 35 powerful films. The series highlights various individuals, including artists, activists, organisers, and advocates, as they share personal anecdotes, emotions, and aspirations related to gender equality. The raw and impassioned videos will be available to stream on Gucci’s social channels and official YouTube account.
Renewed Commitment to Change
Salma Hayek Pinault, Gucci CHIME co-founder, expresses her determination to continue the fight for gender equality, acknowledging the progress made over the past decade while knowing there is more work ahead. The video series features returning supporters such as Florence Welch, Julia Roberts, and John Legend, as well as new faces like Idris Elba, Halle Bailey, Alia Bhatt, Serena Williams, and Jodie Turner-Smith.
