Gucci Fall Winter 2023 Men’s collection is likely the most talk-about show of the season. Ever since Alessandro Michele’s (rather abrupt) departure, everyone — friends and fans — has weighed in on the prospect of the brand. Among all the speculations, one burning question remains: What will Gucci be like post-Alessandro Michele?
However, when the show unfolded, it was clear the era of Michele’s trademark maximalist aesthetic may be over. Replacing the rich symbolism, rich colours, intricate details and bold prints is an ensemble that favours a more relaxed and casual take on formalwear. From a variation of boxy suits to double-breasted blazers and long suit jackets that balanced with flowing pants was visible throughout the show. Others paired with plain white t-shirts and stretched-out hems, which the brand calls “improvisational styling” in the show notes. Overall, the tailoring is voluminous and unstructured, allowing for styling and creativity.
Gucci Fall Winter 2023 Men’s collection pays homage to improvised self-expression
The Fall Winter collection is all about personalization and self-expression. It is all about embracing the unusual, from denim pants patched with the same material to vintage-inspired foulards knotted around bags. Other details include exposing the lining of the collection’s deconstructed tracksuits for decorative elements.
According to the brand, the garments in the collection are diverse expressions of the characters who wear them. Or, to put it another way, the various perceptions of the seduction inherent in Gucci’s masculinities. Fresh elements have also been introduced including the Crystal GG – a lacquered interpretation of the house’s coated monogram canvas from the 1970s.
